North Carolina Foreclosure Prevention Information

The North Carolina Foreclosure Prevention Fund helps North Carolina homeowners who are struggling to pay their mortgage due to job loss or other temporary financial hardship.

Hardest Hit Funds are limited. The last day for application submission to the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency (NCHFA) is July 31, 2019 at 5:00pm EST, so act quickly.


Gathering all documentation necessary to submit an application to NCHFA can take up to 60 days. Please note, starting an application is not the same as a submitted application to (NCHFA). There will be no exceptions for applications not submitted to the Agency after July 31, 2019.

If you desire to apply directly online, the call center can also provide instructions on how you can apply and submit an application to NCHFA through an online portal.
